Someone listed a trade proposal a while ago, I didn't think much of it at the time but now I can see how it can be a fit for the team.
Monahan for Connor Brown (RW) + Nick Paul (C, LW). At this point with Monahan, do we need to add, not sure? Ottawa has 2 rookies down the middle in their top 6, they could use an experienced centre. Brown solves our issue of a top RHS RW, and Nick Paul adds some size and PK experience. Brown under contract for two more years at $3.6M, Paul one year $1.3M. We also gain $1.3M capspace with the swap. I'd love to add Landeskog, I know the chances for that are very slim, but if it were possible the line up instantly looks so much better. And we don't have the risk of Treliving throwing more money and term at 3/4 line guys. Landy is listed as an LW, but I'm told he can also play centre.
Gaudreau - Lindholm - Tkachuk
Mangiapane - Landeskog - Brown
Paul - Backlund - Dube
Lucic - Pitlick - Ritchie (interchangeable, insert kids).
Leaves plenty of money for an LD. Just spitballing here obviously, but that looks like a solid lineup.
