Garland is a great add for Vancouver.

But now instead of just 1 year left of Eriksson, Beagle, and Roussel left ($12M) the Canucks have 6 years of OEL at $7M.

And you gave up a 9th overall pick, and a 2nd round pick for that privilege.

And their cap situation isn’t really all that much better in year because even though they have $18M is space right now the Hughes, Pettersson, and Garland contracts will eat up all of that room.

Vancouver is probably a better team today that they were yesterday but longer term I think this still just hurts them more.
