He was pretty impressive in the KHL playoffs, but yeah, who the hell knows when you bring a guy across the Atlantic. Could really go either way.

Yep. I just tried putting together a roster on Capfriendly. If you assume they buy out Holtby and Virtanen, sign Dickinson for 2.8, Garland for 4.5, Juolevi for 1, and then fill out their roster to 21 players using the cheapest guys available (all sub-$1M deals for younger players, including Podkolzin) then they have just over $12M left to sign both Pettersson and Hughes.
And those are some pretty optimistic contract numbers.
