Anyway, there was literally never a window unless in April you were convinced that Trotz wouldn’t be extended in June. IIRC Peters had to declare on his option with Fla well before then, so that was the urgency.

Actually, he was very frank about different teams and where they stood. He said, point blank, that he would like to coach the Flames, prior to identifying the Flames as a point of discussion. But thanks for injecting your knowledge of the discussion into the the thread. The fact of this discussion was he was just coming available but the Flames had already invested in Peters. Timing is everything, and had the Flames made it known they were interested in him, it could have been different. But he never heard anything from the hockey team because they rushed to hire Bill Peters. Sometimes patience is a good thing, but when it comes to coaches Brad Treliving has always managed to prove himself to be an incompetent. Imagine where this team could have been with Trotz behind the bench.
