I have never ever heard this. Their contracts point to the opposite conclusion, as well as reporting, the negotiation process, nationality, community work, etc.

Anyway, the decision about Monahan re-signing is a year further away, he has a much less stringless M-NTC. And, like has been said, his value is likely not as great. Gaudreau re-signing is a huge roll of the dice starting when his NTC kicks in at the beginning of next year. This offseason is probably the last realistic chance to trade him. If you don’t have 100% certainty he re-signs, you have to pull the trigger.
