What you are discussing is the exact opposite point of why the snake was invented. The spirit of the snake is that if you get to 96 points you will make the playoffs, no matter what anyone else does. No Western conference team has reached 96 points and missed the playoffs. Hit 96 and you don't have to watch what any other team does. As this season is only 56 games, 96 was changed to 66. It does not matter if those wins are against Ottawa, Toronto, Montreal, Edmonton, Vancouver, or Winnipeg, just get to 66 and you should be in. If you'll notice I never mention which teams the Flames beat or how they got the points. It's only about getting enough points to get above the black line. Opponents, sportsclubstats, power rankings, etc. have no place here.
As such, you are awarded one punch in the taint.
