No she doesn’t and no he doesn’t.
She doesn’t know what to do so she talks too much but has no rapport with her PBP counterpart so she talks too much and usually gets it wrong. She’s literally committing the #1 error of broadcasting which is don’t talk if you have nothing good to say. She’s like a nervous high schooler on a first date. She just rambles, and rambles and rambles then trails off and doesn’t finish her thought. She constantly makes the wrong read on a play and then doubles down instead of backtracking or correcting herself.
Hrudey knows when to analyze the play and when to add to the broadcast by making the viewer feel comfortable. He’s actually a phenomenal colour guy in his regard.
It’s the hardest job in tv sports, colour. Harder than pbp because it involves breaking down what happened, not just relaying it and describing it like the PBP person does.
I’ve never heard another colour guy/gal who sounded equally uncomfortable in their 50th appearance as they did in their first, and that’s Cassie.
Charlie Simmer sucked and was boring but at least he never sounded like an awkward high school AV club person on their first ever broadcast.
