I'm not sure what you're advocating.
Ward seems to be the kind of coach the Steelers have hired over the years -- some success as an assistant and at lower levels but no previous head coaching experience at the major league level. Do you want the Flames to stick with him for the next 15-20 years regardless of how the team does on the ice?
That seems to be the Steelers model.
