One of the less heralded moments of Edmonton's no goodness, but still a fun one.
Vlad just gave them the opportunity to think they were the smartest men in the room. Guy has a decent camp, people couldn't help but hype him, comparing him to Gaudreau who only had the NHL game. Think they've got a steal everybody missed being added to the inevitable juggernaut. Contract gets rejected, league has it in for the Oilers. They put in the risk to see what talent was there, now somebody else will get him. Just not fair!
Forgettable season in the Q, goes undrafted again before eventually fading away to the KHL. So in less than a year he went from a prospect worthy of a 3-year contract, to not even being worth a 7th round flyer or contract again.
Just a fun little saga that was.
