Defending playoff Monahan is a really odd take / hill to die on because of how obviously bad he’s been for the most part.
He was absolutely brutal in 2019. He was good against Winnipeg but not against Dallas last year. He was fine his first 2 playoff appearances though. He was our best skater against the Ducks in 2017 and was up and down in 2015 but still had a massive game when the opportunity to eliminate the Canucks on home ice presented itself.

The hate Monahan gets from some fans is over the top ridiculous. When they get going on him being brutal and terrible sometimes they need to be reminded that it hasn’t been all bad.

It is frustrating he hasn’t been able to elevate his game come playoff time but it is not like he completely disappears entirely. His career scoring average is 0.76 and in the playoff it is 0.7 so just a slight drop off in actual points scored.
