I would wager "most Flames fans" don't even know what "Blasty" is without further context. (It was always "the flaming booger horse" to me.) Outside of the cadre of people who were little kids in the late '90s and early '00s I can't imagine anyone having fond memories of it. "Blasty" is to the Flames as the "Fishsticks" jersey is to the Islanders: a cynical attempt at increasing merchandise revenues at a time when expansion teams were cleaning the clocks of the established teams in the sales departments.

Frankly Flames management have been extremely inept at making new jerseys for the last 25 years. The only "hit" they had with a new design was the '03 "Black C" jersey; everything else they've ever done has been a swing-and-a-miss. The only smart decision they made in the last 15 years or so had been to bring the original jersey design back. There was a league-wide edict to participate in this "Reverse Retro" gobbledy####, so I get that the Flames' staff was painted into a corner and had to come up with something, but if they embrace "Blasty" going forward they're even more incompetent than I thought.
Who Hurt You?

The horsehead jersey (as it was originally known) is great. The horsehead jersey has always been great...as an alternate jersey.

The problem with it originally is it actually replaced our Red jerseys for those couple seasons. But as an alternate it's always been great. It was also great as a shoulder patch too, people always hate on the logo while forgetting that it's also on the "Black C" jersey that you claim to really like.

I know people aged 5 to 50 that all like the jersey and are fans of both this jersey design and the original jersey. Feedback around the internet from both Flames fans, and from fans of other teams was overwhelming positive about the return of that logo.

So don't think it's just an age thing. The Flaming C should never be replaced as our main logo on our main sets, but "Blasty" would be welcome as a shoulder patch or an alternate jersey any day of the week.
