Jankowski was definitely on the Backlund track up until it was made public that he was offered in a trade.
Bad move on management just to show the fan base that it was the cities fault his not getting Kadri.
Why not just say that a solid offer was made and Kadri wouldn't waive his NTC to come to Calgary.

Are you suggesting the Flames held a press conference and announced they almost traded Jankowski? Sheesh man, that's not how it works. Reporters pick up on things.
Regardless, thats the NHL. Brodie's name was attached to that trade too and he had a great season. That's the business side of it. I highly doubt it effected Jankowski's play.
Jankowski has solid skills and thinks the game well enough, but no he was not on the Backlund track. He is a fine player and will do well elsewhere given more of an opportunity, but he's just too expensive to bring back to center the 4th line. This happening was the most predictable thing going into the off season.
