I am curious though, if Ottawa and Duclair had gone to arbitration, would Duclair still have represented himself? I don't think a player has ever represented themselves in a NHL salary arbitration case

If Duclair managed to do and file all the paperwork and handle himself well in the hearing without anyone experienced helping him it would have been impressive.
