Bishop signed $4.9AAV when he was UFA after coming off seasons with 37, 40 and 35 wins (I believe he was partially injured in his UFA year). And that was in an environment where the cap was increasing every year. With cap uncertainty for the foreseeable future and a ton of bad contracts floating around, a GM who gives Markstrom that much must be really desperate and taking a big gamble.

If you're going to use one example i'll use one as well. Obviously not the end all be all but..
Over the last 4 seasons:
Bobrovsky: .916 save percentage
Markstrom: .913 save percentage
Bobrovsky just got paid $10M AAV / 7 YR (Signed as a 30 year old) last year and you don't believe Markstrom will get close to a 7M figure at potentially a year less term?
