But isn’t it almost a given they need to see or trade for a defenseman? You could say you prefer a different defenseman over Brodie, which I understand. But I could also see signing Brodie giving you flexibility with other pieces of your roster. There aren’t many UFA defensemen better than Brodie, he might be the best one you realistically have a shot at.
