Treliving has ready earned two extensions, an increase in the power of his own position, and he is reportedly popular with and trusted by ownership. He is not getting fired this off season; nor will he be reduced to a lame-duck.

I think that’s the essence of it. I’m not aware of the report that he is so trusted and popular with ownership, at least more so than any other GM.
When do you think that well starts to run a little dry? Are you surprised he wasn’t allowed to buy out Neal? It would have saved real dollars and the bigger impact is to the management of the cap. That doesn’t sound like a vote of confidence.
Or maybe the story isn’t true.
