If you’re inferring pre-stoppage position, it doesn’t really matter. Colorado and Arizona we’re separately by less points than Pittsburgh and Ottawa when Crosby went on a run.
Plenty of teams in the playoffs have played teams 20+ points behind them. Going by arbitrary seeding numbers doesn’t tell anything about the quality of the teams involved. Does that mean a 4th seed playing a 5th seed should have their points count more than a 1st playing an 8th?
