I'm very nervous about the return if we're trying to win now. Just seems like we're destined to land a lesser player and a couple mediocre throw in pieces. I think the only way you maximize Johnnys value is a futures package that you hit on. Doubtful they go that route. Or maybe you land a futures package and use those pieces to go after an established player.

A signed Stone at 9.5M.
If a team acquired Johnny this summer they get 2 years at $6.75 and only $10M left to pay him. Any team that trades for him will do so with intentions to sign him. If anything he should get more than a player that was an expiring contract.
