The assistant’s role is different than the head coach. I think often the access to the head coach is somewhat limited and the assistant becomes the communication channel and often a friendlier voice to the players. So it could be hard making that transition to the head guy who needs to be more of the bad cop with the same group. So I suppose transitioning from the farm team head coach wouldn’t be as awkward.
