McDonald’s return to the lineup meant that both assistant captains, Tim Hunter and Jim Peplinski, sat out game #6. So when the Flames won the Stanley Cup and NHL Commissioner John Ziegler presented it to Lanny, he did not lift it over his head in celebration until he called Hunter and Peplinski to come and stand beside him at the presentation table, and the three of them lifted Lord Stanley’s trophy together.
