Hockey is different, because generally your equipment has fungus growing in it, even if you've cleaned it recently (and I know guys who never clean theirs!
). Plus, for some reason hockey sweat has an acrid, ammonia-like quality. My wife has informed me that workout sweat means go, but hockey-man-smell means stop.
If you're interested in an unusual scent that women really seem to like--Clinique Happy for Men. It's not musky, but I've received several compliments on it--one or two that were a little uncomfortable, given that I'm married....... Most importantly, my wife loves it.
