I’ll take Lucic on this team over Neal every day of the week. The third and salary retained by the Oilers are just icing on the cake. Real shrewd move by Treliving in my books. Neal, on the other hand, was a parasite. I would bet he’s bought out in a year or two. Although the trade was unpopular at the time, perhaps Treliving and Flames hockey ops deserve some credit after all.

I will happily admit that I have totally flipped my stance on the Lucic trade. I had nothing but vitriol for bringing in Lucic and his contract when the trade was made. Now, while it's obviously still a bad contract, I'm totally good with Lucic as a player on the Flames and I do think he adds something valuable that the Flames were missing before that trade. I've come to really like Lucic.
