However the scope and scale of the outbreak there is entirely based on the US response. Their combination of poor leadership, weak institutions, individualism, and political divide has led to the virus being worse for them than every other developed nation. So while yes the virus will have permanent long term negative affects on employment we will see the Affects in the US be longer and worse. So it is a reasonable place to attack. The extension of the first wave of the virus is entirely self inflicted. There is an outside chance that they get the infection rate high enough that they reach heard immunity faster than a vaccine is available and they recover to full strength faster than the rest of the world.
