Chicago has had catastrophic black on black gun violence that existed before Lightfoot, and will after. It's not like it's her fault or a problem she could fix, and I'm not sure why it should forbid her from expressing the only possible sentiment anybody in her position would feel - a gay, black woman who Trump has needlessly belittled several times.
