In a package for an upgrade or for a 2nd/3rd picks then fine. But if the offer for Bennett is a 5th he's more valuable in depth / bottom roster / playoff burst then a low round pick.
Same with Jankowski. He's a 6'5" center on an off year. I don't love the player and can't for the life of me understand why, with only one point, he doesn't play with more jam. But he has value to the team above what you can likely get on the market for him.

Unfortunately I think the 25 games he played with Tkachuk last year priced him off the team, as that production mixed with his playoff production probably earned him a full million extra per year.
It's more valuable to have 2.25 million in cap space than it is to have Bennett because the flames already have Lucic.
Adding Lucic makes Bennett expendable.
