The only use of the word in that room that I can see him getting any lesser reaction from is if he was quoting the word and saying he didn't like music with it in it. Even then it's so tone deaf I question his judgment.
Where I would have an inner conflict is if he admitted it, it was a one-off and he made a super abject and proper apology. Then I don;'t know if I give him another chance or say "I believe you are sincere but we still can't keep you".

Ah right, always mix those two up. But ya, if he used it as an adjective or quoted a song 10 years ago. Give an apology and be done with it. Honestly I can't even pretend to be outraged by that.
