I think the "Arya gets 4 concussions" thing was more for dramatic and cinematic effect really, if for no other reason than to show in harsh contrasting stages the demise of King's Landing.
1. Battle
2. Fire
3. Panic
4. Ash & Calm
Breaking it up via her consciousness is a reasonable storytelling method to advance time without having a "suddenly, the fires were out" 80s movie cut.
