A weird thing seemed to happen after the oilers drafted mcdavid. They suddenly made over their front office.

I have a feeling the mold that rots that franchise was not properly remediated, and has returned.

Orr is in town to let the landlord know his client isn't going to remain in the house until the mold is remediated, if it isn't soon, he's out of there.
Exactly. Katz had a moment of clairity, but didn’t finish the job so as to keep a collection of old Oilers around. Chia and McLellan probably had it as terms of their employment, given the widely known reputation of Lowe.

But they knew if he was still around it was a matter of time before he and his ego found his way back. Lowe bided his time in the shadows with a honorary title. Must have been excruciating for his ego to see the team make the playoffs without him to take the glory.

As soon as some rough water hit (that Lowe ultimately had created in his tenure, cap problems, Chia having inability to find trading partners for players because the way Lowe soiled the reputation) when the year after the playoffs didn’t go so hot, he set his plan back in motion, slowly regained the confidence of Katz as an advisor, and started to undermine the guy who took his job. It’s now, and may have been for most of this year and offseason, in full effect. Chia, like Tambelleni, will be kept to shoulder all of the blame and abuse from fans and media so that Lowe can come in (back) as the saviour.

Hitchcock will be gone, and subtly blamed for pushing McDavid too hard in this stretch. Nicholson will wake from his nap long enough to announce he’s moving on. Lowe will regain the throne, have his puppet McTavish to do the hard work and take the blame, as well as hiring some other puppet GM and or recycled coach who will be McDavid approved.
