IIHF wants to play on NHL sized rinks at the Olympics and future international events
some believe this is an olive branch directed to the NHL

Canucks considered asking Quinn Hughes to join them after the WJC.
In the end they decided not to because they had made a deal with Hughes not to discuss it until the end of the season.
(*sounds like the Canucks are trying to earn brownie points with Hughes by making this public*)

Canucks to try and re-sign Edler
Edler's AAV might increase but it will be on a short term deal

talks between Duchene and Sens have cooled

Carolina has said they aren't in the posistion to UFAs walk for nothing
Don't believe Ferland or the team are anywhere close to a deal
Both McElhinney and Mrazek are UFA but the Canes aren't ready to make a move there yet. They need someone to play.
Friedman wonders about Dougie Hamilton because the Canes already have 4 RHS D. They have been asked about Hamilton. If the return is a scorer than Friedman thinks they will consider moving Dougie.

McLean points out how players who leave Carolina seem to do better. Lindholm, Hanifin, Skinner, Staal. Even 2 coaches at the ASG are former Canes coaches.
Although I’m not entirely certain I’ll have the willpower, if there’s another NHL lockout I’m going to be so damn pissed off. I will do everything in my power to stop following the NHL.
