The new goggles also do nothing.

Everyone is different when it comes to LCDs so it's hard to go by a recommendation.

The 712N has great specs for an LCD, 12ms response and 600:1 contrast. It's analog (no DVI), but at 1280x1024 (its native resolution) it shouldn't be a huge factor.

I've played BF1942 on a 712N and it's pretty good, but I wouldn't buy one for myself for full time gaming. I actually purchased what was then seen as one of the best if not the best 21" gaming LCD and I returned it in a week because it wasn't good enough for me; I could still see the ghosting and it bothered me enough that I couldn't get comfortable playing games.

My biggest suggestion is to find somewhere that you can purchase the LCD and then return it if you aren't satisfied.

But for gaming and graphics work a CRT is still king IMO. And if your graphics work requires accurate colour reproduction, be very careful since most LCD's aren't that good in that area.
