If Fox has an insane year at Harvard and continues to rise the ranks as one of the best defense prospects in the game, that is not the correct sweetener you throw into a deal when Hamilton and Ferland should get it done on their own or with a lesser additional prospect. The value is off until Fox confirms he had no intention to sign here. I think Treliving really wanted these players and Carolina really wanted Fox, so Treliving gambled with Fox's perceived intent and who knows, maybe it bites us in the ass later. He can enjoy competing with Jake Bean now though if his intent wasn't to sign.
