This current team has a 3 year window before Hamilton needs likely at least $8M per which is followed by trying to keep Gaudreau who will command at least $10M. I don’t think they are ready so swapping out a 25 year old for a 21 and 23 year old makes some sense to me.
I have felt since the season ended Hamilton was the guy on the outs. I prefer they find a comparable forward and make a blockbuster trade personally than the Canes deal.

Yeah, and the 21 and 23 year olds are high pedigree. The Flames wouldn't be trading Hamilton for some schlubbs. They were both drafted 5th overall and still have a lot of room to potentially grow.
Personally though, I'm still unsure if I'd want to see this deal go through. I'd rather add more and get them to include Skinner. Otherwise we aren't upgrading our top 6 forward group enough to offset the downgrade at D.
