who's the last big UFA who ever signed in Calgary by choice or even had Calgary in his top 3 teams? I am actually asking because I really can't think of any. (and don't say Frolik, Brouwer, or Jokinen because those guys aren't big free agents)

Bouwmeester (not technically a UFA because Sutter traded for his rights, but he could have waited a couple of days and became a UFA if he really didn't want to sign here).
We may be soured because of how things turned out with him, but he was definitely the biggest name UFA that season, and he's still one of the very few high-level players to hit UFA status at the age of 25 (possibly still the only one).
Even Tavares, if he does go to UFA, isn't doing so at the earliest-possible moment because he signed a 6 year second contract.
