I just wanna address this.
Treliving only knows Peters from the 2016 World Championships where Treliving was co-GM (with Vegas GM George McPhee) of the Gold Medal Winning squad. Their relationship is probably entirely professional, not a buddy relationship as you frame it.
I may be highly skeptical of this coach because he simply sounds like nothing more than a cosmetic makeover to all the same deep-rooted issues we observed the last two years which have caused the decline of this team's confidence and the ability of some of our most talented players to impact the game in a positive way - but accusing Tre of, essentially, nepotism is just off in this case. Of course he goes back to wells where he's had familiarity. Mike Smith, David Schlemko, Chad Johnson, Stone were all former Coyotes too and mostly worked out well for us with some ups and downs. But that doesn't mean he is hiring a guy just because he knows him. He barely knew Glen Gulutzan before he hired him, and I recall he'd never had a working relationship with Cameron. And say what you will but he did sign Bob Hartley to a two year extension during an eight game losing streak.
He's not a nepotistic clown.
He's just a really questionable evaluator of talent.
