Faceoffs are an important detail, but they are still a detail. I worked out a couple of years back, when the Flames had the worst FO% in the league, that it was costing them about one minute per game of possession time (compared to average). You just don't pay $7.5 million to fix that.

While you do make a valid point about the assets required to acquire ROR, I think you're underselling the various other qualities he brings to the table (leardership, scoring, grit, excellent 2-way game).
I agree there are other pressing needs to be addressed this summer, but I also think acquiring ROR could do wonders for our C depth and go a long way in establishing much needed top 9 depth. He doesn't sound happy with the satus quo in Buffalo and may have even asked for a trade... which could make the acquisition cost much more palatable.
