Yes, but when he has another deal in his pocket he really isn't losing anything. Most times when coaches are let go with term still available on their contracts, they get paid UNTIL they accept another job at which time the team agrees to release them from their contract as long as they do not have to pay them anymore. There are a couple exceptions where it may be negotiated for partial payment etc. to make up the difference on the new deal if it comes in at less $$.
