30 other teams would love to have Ferland. No doubt. But at what cost?
The fact that he wasn’t a high profile draft pick and wasn’t that flashy guy in junior but more of a crash and Baker with some skill on both ends of the ice have skewed peoples opinion of him.
Right now he is playing like a top line talent and has the numbers to prove it. I think if he repeats it next year then he will start entering that realm of a large return. Problem is, he may not even get the opportunity if BT thinks like most around here and is relegated to the 3rd line or moved over the next 7 months.
If I were BT, I would hold fast on Ferland, see what f he can repeat it (likely can) and then sell on him or he becomes a true piece of the core and the Flames make room for him on the second line if still pursuing a RH RW for that top line.

The problem with ferkland is how streaky he is... teams don’t want to pay for a guy who is a very real risk to only record 5 more points the rest of the way... I think he’s great when he is on his game but that is only about 50% of the time. Depends on his price tag but when you only have ~half of this season so far and about a third of last where he was performing like a first liner it is very easy to just say no thanks.
