Pathetic by the Hawks fans and good on the reporter for calling them out. 3 cups in decade is amazing and well worth any future struggles and cap problems.

I don't believe this is a problem with all fans. Most Hawks fans I know and Foss on this board seem calm and realistic. There is a segment of fans however who take sports way too seriously and take it as personal offense if a player struggles. In the past these "fans" would be drunkenly complaining at the pub however they are now able to express their anger anonymously on the internet.

Posters on CP have more justification to complain than Hawks fans due to a history of disappointment and mediocrity however I have been noticing a steep decrease in the quality of conversations on FOI due to a small segment of angry repetitive posters who take any mistake as an opportunity to personally attack a player. Sure go ahead be negative about management decisions, coaching decisions, and in game brain farts, however personally insulting players and hoping they get injured or shot into the sun is crossing a line.

I used to love participating in Game Threads as it made up for the lost sense of being in a fan community after moving from Calgary however lately it is not worth the effort. It is pointless to respond to the negative posts and countering with positive posts just gets you labelled as a homer. I still post in the GTs sometimes however now most of my posts are on things like the OOT and off topic forums where no Flames topics are being discussed.
