i think it will be an interesting deadline for sure.

There's only about 5 teams that are sure fire cup hopefuls in either conference (TB, BOS, WPG, NSH, LV) .

Only 8 teams that are likely ready to call it a season already: (ARZ, EDM, VAN, BUF, OTT, MTL, DET, FLA).

With the remaining 18 teams still holding hope that are either in a playoff spot (not real powerhouses) or are within striking distance of a playoff spot. Unless there is a drastic reduction in playoff hopefuls in the next 3 weeks, my guess is that there will be an arms race within those top 5 teams, and lots of chatter by the 18 mediocre teams, but little gets done given the level of mediocraty and the prices required to get a trade done.

My prediction: 3 of those top teams make a splash by getting in on the big fish in the market (kane, etc). Perhaps half a dozen or so depth dmen or forward moves made by the 18 teams in the middle. A lot of standing pat, and waiting for the offseason for the rest.
