Gio is one of the best defensemen, period, in the world until proven otherwise. It's ridiculous it took Gulutzan until Christmas to put him on the first powerplay.

I don't disagree with that at all. I just don't think it's a coincidence that apparently Brodie forgot how to make simple plays (and now overcomplicates it and puts himself in a bad position) when Gulutzan became head coach. As much as Tinordi may disagree, these gaffs did not happen with any sort of regularity prior.
Maybe Brodie doesn't fit with this system. Maybe we should trade him for some help up front. I do think somebody like Anderson would be ready for next season.
But if we're talking about trading Brodie for a late 1st round pick or god forbid a 2nd round pick, then the Flames have failed. We should have just used what we gave up for Hamonic in that scenario.
At best, those 2 players are a wash. So we trade a lot for Hamonic, trade Brodie for scraps, and trade those scraps for forward help? It just doesn't make sense.
