I don’t disagree Hamonic has been pretty awful. It was fairly surprising he cost that much in a trade considering he is coming off a bad season. If he played the way the Flames hoped the trade wouldn’t be overkill.
Ideally the team wanted to roll out 2 D pairings that would be a top pair on most teams. Brodie-Hamonic have been no where close to that. If they were playing well and the team was top 5 in GAA it would be a good trade. Hopefully they turn it around but both Brodie and Hamonic are not bringing it.

I fully agree with notion of having a top blue line is essential if the team lacks offense but all I think this team is missing is another puck carrier or creator similar to Gaudreau to use on the second line. Obviously that player won't be Johnny but someone who plays that style would help the 2nd or 3rd lines tremendously. Imo this defense is not good enough to be this teams strength and one needs to be shipped out of town. I understand depth but there is way too much invested in this defense for them to be underperforming this much. It's very worrying that Hamonic has showed zero signs of a player that would cost a first rounder and two seconds. It seems like Treliving caved in those negotiations, the two seconds on top of the first seems ridiculous all ready. Just not good enough
