Our team has horrible goals against. Having a top blueline is actually a great move if a team lacks superstar offensive players. The Flames have Gaudreau and that is about it as an elite offensive superstar.
I don’t disagree Hamonic has been pretty awful. It was fairly surprising he cost that much in a trade considering he is coming off a bad season. If he played the way the Flames hoped the trade wouldn’t be overkill.
Ideally the team wanted to roll out 2 D pairings that would be a top pair on most teams. Brodie-Hamonic have been no where close to that. If they were playing well and the team was top 5 in GAA it would be a good trade. Hopefully they turn it around but both Brodie and Hamonic are not bringing it.
