Just because a player makes millions or can retire in their 30's doesn't mean their emotions are any less important. The guy has a son and now has a daughter, girls have a special place in a fathers heart and if he has to miss a game (game being key word) than so be it.
I don't know if he will play or if his head will be in the right space but I don't think there is anything wrong with this at all. It's no different than somebody taking a benefit at work that they are also able to.

He was there for the Birth and they are on a home stand with no games until Monday after tonight. Had they been on a trip it's a different story.
