Yeah I'm kind of surprised too that some people are willing to take Elliott back as a stop gap, as if him taking a paycut somehow makes it worth it.
I wouldn't take him back if he played for league minimum on a 1 year contract. As a fan, I'm in it to watch the team win games. Not to look at my capologist spreadsheet and being satisfied seeing extra room in the cap space cell. Last time I checked, cap space doesn't win games. Player performance does. It was a worthwhile gamble getting Elliott given his low acquisition cost and low cap hit. And he did play a good role in getting the team to the playoffs. But I will be extremely disappointed if he's back in training camp.
