It's laughable because you're equating professional sports with working in an office. Have you ever played competitive sports? Calling someone stupid would be hilarious, not because it's funny but because its probably the tamest insult you're going to hear at ice-level.
And yeah, if you work in an accounting firm you don't do this, but it's a different environment. I also don't think its appropriate to body check people or any minor penalty in downtown Calgary, so should the players be filing grievances about those issues?
