Flames have their own in-house metrics as well. I mean, I hope that the Oilers sign Russell for a very long and lucrative contract - would be nice to see Russell get paid as he seems like a great guy, and would help to ensure that the Oilers live in cap hell.
I believe most teams have other metrics that they developed, and they apparently go through some lengths not to have them disclosed to another team can start using them. I remember Treliving talking about it a couple of seasons ago. I believe he said that the Flames don't put much value at all on CORSI, and instead rely on their own metrics. I still think CORSI is a joke of a stat, as it is only an indirect measurement of possession and can be very misleading.
Would love to know what teams really use, and how different those metrics are from one team to another. I would bet that Edmonton's metrics are no good.
