Which is fine when you are talking about future drafts - but that poster was talking about the last draft and Laine specifically.
We have the benefit of hindsight with that draft and can argue how it actually played out.
In the end the Flames winning that game actually had them in the position that ended up getting second in the lottery and it was only the Jets late comeback that moved them out of that spot.
The other way of looking at it is that in hindsight that win had absolutely no impact on the Flames ability to get Laine.
