I don't know why I've twice now ended up in the position of the guy trying to give a charitable interpretation to Girlysports's posts, but I don't think she was referring to that clip (correct me if I'm wrong).
That moment was Van Jones as Van Jones the guy, not the TV personality. As a cable news commentator, he normally plays a character that's a sort of exaggerated version of himself, and as such can say some pretty incendiary things. I think at that moment he was legitimately a bit stunned and very disappointed by what was happening, and so the TV personality armor faded a bit and we got an honest moment.
