If you're passing, you can pass at your own pace so long as you move over once you're finished passing. Keep in mind though that if it takes you a minute to a pass car, you look like an idiot and are most likely a struggler since someone who displays confidence on the road doesn't have an issue accelerating to pass somebody at a normal pace (i.e. a few seconds) and then simply moving over and resuming whatever speed they'd like and letting the rest of traffic do it's thing.
Also, if you cut people off to pass at a slower rate than they were going to, you're a total left lane struggler in your own right. It means you have low awareness on the road and again, you should be beaten.

Can a left-laner explain why it's such a hardship to wait the 30 seconds or so it will take me to pass all three vehicles in the right lane and then pull into the right lane myself?

Why on earth does it take you 30 seconds to a pass a car?! A car is like 3 meters long.... Why are you even passing him if it's going to take 30 seconds for you to do it?
