I went with Poirier over Mangiapane because not only was Poirier a successful junior player and 1st round pick, he has a good year in the AHL under his belt. I feel too many people are holding last year against him while giving the the benefit of the doubt to a player drafted in the 6th round, who was previously passed over in the draft, and only has his OHL resume to prop him up. Don't get me wrong, I like Magniapane, but he is much more of a long shot to play in the NHL than Poirier. The ceiling of both players is top 6 forward (probably equally low likelihood of becoming that), but Poirier has a chance to be a bottom 6 forward while Mangiapane doesn't really IMO.
